SHAPING YOUR YEAR Pt.9

January 08, 2021 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Proverbs 17:17 A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need. NLT

You are one person away from a life changing opportunity. I'll love to share a story with you about two people. Let's call them and Bob and Peter. Bob was not so brilliant in school. He wasn't bad but he wasn't atop in his class like Peter and other guys. However, he had one thing going for him- his ability to maintain relationships and keep cordiality. After school, the professional profile of Bob rose simply because he valued relationship with humans and he didn't look down on people. At every point in his career journey, someone was there for him to lift him up. Peter's human relations was poor coupled with pride. He struggled almost all through his life.

Some of the things we desire in life are things that are locked up in the hands of people and relationship is the key to unlocking them. I'm not talking about people who stand on the right of others. I'm talking about valuable people we can climb as ladders to our success. So many have lost great opportunities because they didn't place value on relationships. Naaman would have died a wealthy leper if he hadn't heeded to the counsel of that slave girl. At a time, I concluded that God can hardly work or intervene in human affairs without using humans. In God's program for our lives, humans are involved.

A lot of people pray for God's help but they fail to realize that humans are the channel. If you're connected to the source but fail to relate properly with the channels God has set for your lifting, you'll remain on the spot. One of the things that will shape this year is your ability to forge healthy relationships with people and maintain them. In the corporate world, they call it networking. In anything you're doing, you need a healthy network. Value people regardless of their status. God can use a gateman to help you get to the post of a general manager. How you handle relationships is a determinant of how far you'll go in life.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to maintain healthy relationships in Jesus name.
