SHAPING YOUR YEAR Pt.8

Prov27:8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place. KJV

William Wilberforce was a human right activist. He wanted to go into pastoral ministry. He informed John Newton, a former slave dealer, who after his conversion to Christ composed the popular hymn, 'Amazing Grace'. He advised him against going into pastoral ministry. "You need to spend your life doing one thing, the thing God has called you to do and that you feel, in your heart is necessary", John Newton said. With this counsel, William Wilberforce dedicated his life for the abolition of slavery. That was his undying passion.

Just fifty years after, in 1833, while he was on his death bed, a messenger whispered to him, "Sir, the abolition has been approved!" He heaved a sigh of relief for a few moments before he died, he remarked, "I finished well". David Brainerd lived his entire life as a missionary- intercessor for the Red Indians. He lived his life majorly on intercession and died at the age of 29. Before he died, he said, "Oh that I had a thousand lives to give in a cause so glorious". These men lived for one thing all their lives and they left their footprint in the sand of times.

Decide to put your all into one thing that is in line with your divine design. It is called purpose. You have a purpose for existence. You're not an accident of creation. You are not an after thought in God's mind. He shot you into the world like an arrow to hit a target. That target could be the people he has sent you to and the things he want you to do. There are so many displaced humans on the face of the earth that are not walking on the path God intended for them. They move with the generality thereby walking out of their path in life. To shape this year and years to come, pay the price to know God's purpose for your life and start fulfilling it. Remember the counsel of John Newton.
