SHAPING YOUR YEAR Pt.10

January 10, 2021 · Lanre Oyeleke · 4 views

Isaiah 54:13 And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

In a movie, there was a girl who was lured into a female cult group. She wanted to inform her father about her struggles but he was so busy and didn't have her time at all. Obviously, the mother was also busy. Eventually, this lady was initiated into the cult group and her life was ruined. Another girl was living with her mother after she made life unbearable for her dad. The man moved out of the house and the mother began to live alone with their only child. One would think she would have time to care and nurture this girl but unfortunately, she was too busy to care for her. The girl got involved with the wrong company and was gang raped. Though a movie, these things happen in reality.

To shape your year, you must have time for your family. You must be intentional about it. Abraham was rich in cattles and in the material things of his days, this presupposes that he was a business man yet God was proud about how his availability to teach his family: "For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord , to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him", Gen 18:19 KJV. It is only a man that is available for his family that will teach his children the way of the Lord.

This year, don't be an absentee father or mother. Aside teaching your children the ways of the Lord, when you are around for your children, it affects their psyche positively. They
don't feel neglected or forgotten. More so, as they see you live the christian life, they'll begin to imitate you. Children learn more from what we do than what we say. When you teach them, you must be on ground to model what you teach. That's complete parenting. No matter how busy you are, find quality time for your children. This will help this year and in years to come.
