WHY PEOPLE MASTURBATE
Have you ever wondered why people masturbate? Topmost on the list is heightened sexual tension. Those that masturbate engage in the act to quickly ease sexual tension that is bottled up within. Some persons are burning within. The inferno of lustful thoughts in them can burn a whole building if converted into physical flames. Read about a man sometimes ago, he ejaculated on the bum of a lady while on a queue in the public. Some persons may excuse themselves from the crowd to a lonely place where they can practice the act. Why? Sexual tension in them is heightened. Sexual tension is built when the mind is filled with the filth of sexual images. Sexual tension is not innate, it is built over time by exposing the mind to the wrong thing. The battle ground is the mind. King Solomon said, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it", Prov 4:23.
Further, some persons masturbate because they don't want to be physically involved in an affair with someone. This is common to those who do not want to be involved in/ caught "fornicating" with another person. They see it as a "play safe" method without harassment from anyone. On the outside, they may appear spiritual and pious but deep within, they are struggling to quench the flames of sexual tension. Some hinge their reason for masturbation on science saying it is a way to prevent prostate cancer.
None of the reasons given for masturbation is valid in light of scriptures. Excuses build in us a mental stronghold that keeps us on the same spot. There'll always be a reason for everything including masturbation. The deeply rooted mental stronghold is the factory that produces the alibis for this evil act. Paul said: "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ", 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NIV. Now you're learning the way of sexual purity from scriptures. As you open your mind to scriptures, you'll be demolishing the mental strong holds holding you down to this perversion. Flush your mind with the word.
