Proverbs4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Sigmund Freud was a psychiatrist who uses psychoanalysis to treat his patients. He said the mind is divided into three: ID, Ego and Superego. He described the Id as that irrational part of man that wants to satisfy carnal longings only without reasoning. It is that aspect that desires to do things without thinking about the consequences.
Though he is a Psychiatrist, he made some sense in his study of the mind. He said the Superego aspect of man controls the ID&Ego through acquisition of morals. This man may not be born again but he was trying to explain the spiritual with human reasoning and not by revelation. Truly, our mind is a delicate aspect of us that must be trained to think in line with the bible.
The word of God says we should mount guard over our heart. All issues of life, flows from within and when our mind is not renewed by God's word, we would give in to fleshy passions and carnal lust. The mind that is not renewed daily by God's word would be irrational, dirty and stinking. The devil always seek to suggest evil into our mind but when we secure it with the word, there would be a strong resistance.
