Psalm 16:5- The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot(Goral)(Emphasis mine).
Back in the days when I was job-hunting, it was common to hear people talk about having job slots.
Some of the interviews I did were already concluded before we applied because job slots were given to certain principal officers who filled those vacancies with their candidates. I applied for a job where only two persons were needed to fill a vacancy.
Before the interview, one person had been employed. Out of the hundreds that applied, they needed just one. Even that single vacancy was lobbied for by the high and mighty. Eventually, a classmate whose father is very influential got a job in that establishment.
It became frustrating for me then because merit was not considered. The son of a nobody just couldn't get a decent job and be somebody.
I began to seek for slots through people even to the point of getting a letter from a politician. I thank God those efforts failed.
If those effort had succeeded, I would have gone off course in life. I wouldn't be in ministry today. Even though I knew God's calling was upon me those years but I wanted to do it my own way to prove a point. Thank God i'm on my lane.
If I had gotten those slots, I would have lost my lot in the divine scheme of things for my life. I'll be running a race that isn't for me. I discovered my lot and applied myself to it. It is paying off.
According to the opening scripture, the Hebrew word "Goral" is translated 'lot' which means 'portion' or 'destiny'. It is not determined by any man. It speaks of a divinely destined placement in life.
A slot can be denied, removed or given to another person for bureaucratic or political reasons but your divine lot can't be changed because it is permanent, it maybe delayed but it can't be denied.
Psalms 16:5 made it clear that your lot is secured under the watchful eyes of God. No one can take it from you because God is maintaining it for you. Halleluyah!!! Though, ignorance can make a man beg around for slots when he has a divine lot.
As we dig deeper into the word, we'll discover our lot. All the promises of God are our lot. The government can deny us basic amenities and essentials of life but God will freely give us what belongs to us.
Romans 8:32 says, "Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?"( Romans 8:32 NLT).
We can stand on God's promises and the finished work of Christ to lay claim to what belongs to us. When slots are filled-up, never forget you have an unchanging lot.
There's something greater than connection called "GOD-NECTION". There is a leg greater than long-leg called "GOD-LEG". There is something better than a slot called LOT (destiny, portion, place).
I release you into the fullness of your lot today In Jesus name. When others say they have a slot, tell them you have a lot - a 'Goral'.
CONFESSION: Father, thank you for watching over my lot. I enter into the fullness of my lot today and forever in Jesus name.
