Isaiah59:16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
One book on prayer that shaped my prayer life was 'Why Revival Tarries' by Leonardo Ravenhill. Also, another book that showed to me depths on intercession was 'Seven Great Prayer Warriors'. I read about a man called George Muller, he interceded for some unsaved souls for 59 years non-stop. Men like John Hyde became a consultant intercessor not forgetting Father Nash and Abel Cary.
The prayer of intercession is a type of prayer whose focus is on God holding back judgement against sinners. It is a priestly type of prayer that puts a man between God and men. That is why old-timers call it 'standing in the gap'. Intercessory prayer isn't focused on yóu or your family but on lost souls. From time immemorial, God has been looking for Intercessors and he's still looking for them today.
When we look at certain men and women in history, we saw in them the passion to pray a whole city into revival of holiness and they achieved it. During the height of Woodworth Etter's revival, the Pennsylvania police reported that there was no crime in the city anymore and there wasn't much for them to do. That happened because someone stood in the gap to intercede for souls.
As a child of God, you have a priestly and Kingly mandate. Intercession is part of your priestly ministry- don't fail in it.
Father, I receive to intercede for lost souls henceforth In Jesus name. Amen
