*BAPTISM WITH THE HOLYSPIRIT* Pt.4

Acts of the Apostles 2:4 *And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability*.

*IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES A SIGN OF THE SPIRIT'S BAPTISM*?(B)

Speaking in other tongues is incontrovertibly the initial sign of the Spirit's baptism. If I did not see it in the scriptures, I wouldn't have made that bold assertion. Let's check a few references to confirm this claim. The first text that backs my assertion can be found in Acts 2:4.

Acts of the Apostles 2:4 says,  AND EVERYONE PRESENT WAS FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT AND BEGAN SPEAKING IN OTHER LANGUAGES, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

This was the first time the Holy Spirit descended on believers in the early church. On the day of pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended fully on those in the upper room, everyone spoke in other tongues as they were given utterance. That was the sign of his infilling.

The second scriptural proof that tells us that speaking in other tongues is the initial evidence of the Spirit's baptism can be found in Acts 10:44-46.

"[44]Even as Peter was saying these things, THE HOLY SPIRIT FELL UPON ALL who were listening to the message. [45] The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. [46] FOR THEY HEARD THEM SPEAKING IN OTHER TONGUES and praising God. Then Peter asked"( NLT).

This scenario happened in the house of Cornelius, a gentile. As Peter preached to him and his household, the Holy Spirit fell on them( baptized them) and they all spoke in other tongues. This is the second evidence showing that speaking in other tongues is inseparable from the Spirit's baptism.

The third evidence is right there in the book of Acts 19:1-6. Verse 6 says, "Then when Paul laid his hands on them, THE HOLY SPIRIT CAME ON THEM, AND THEY SPOKE IN OTHER TONGUES AND PROPHESIED" ( NLT).

Let me ask you, If the believers in the early church were filled with the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking in other tongues, how do you think we can be filled with the Spirit and not speak in other tongues as enabled by the Spirit? Is it not the same Holy Spirit?

Do not forget that Christ himself made it clear that one of the signs that will follow me and you( believers) is the ability to speak in other tongues(Mark 16:17). He did not say it is optional, he spoke as one who mandated it because it is a sign that must be seen.

"And THESE SIGNS shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; THEY SHALL SPEAK WITH NEW TONGUES;".

As long as you struggle with this truth, you may never experience pentecost. The baptism of the Spirit is to your advantage not to your detriment. That experience changed the life of the apostles and early believers. They shook their world and turned it upside down for Jesus.

The door of the supernatural is open easily to those that have been baptized in the Spirit. What do you want, regular life or supernatural life?

Action Point:

I want you to thirst for the baptism with the Spirit and ask for it earnestly in prayers.
