DEAR MINISTER Pt.5
Colossians 4:17 And say to Archippus, “Be sure to carry out the ministry the Lord gave you.” NLT.
FOCUS ON YOUR MARRIAGE
Heard the story about the funeral service of a preacher. Eulogies and encomiums poured in for him from different quarters.
However, the children and wife were surprised at the very things they heard about their dad because he doesn't embody any of those virtues in his life time.
He was a good preacher and pastor to the people but a bad husband to his wife and bad father to his children.
There are wives of ministers who wished they had never married a minister of the Gospel. They are unloved and neglected. Some preachers wives are lonely and depressed.
Some preachers children have vowed never to answer God's call into the ministry because of their dad's lifestyle and the way he's treating them.
There's a way you'll handle your home that'll make your children love or hate the work of ministry. You can't afford to portray God and his work in bad light to your family.
True ministry starts from home. Your marriage is as important as your ministry. Strive to succeed at home first. In the new testament, it is a major criteria for selection of leaders.
This is a trustworthy saying: “If someone aspires to be a church leader, he desires an honorable position.” He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him. For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church? ( 1 Timothy3:1, 4-5 NLT).
Give your family their time. Do not let your ministry take you away totally from your family. That is not God's design but man's indiscretion.
It is better to be celibate and focus on the ministry than to be married and neglect the marriage.
Dear minister, your marriage need attention. A good marriage is a boost for your ministry but a bad home may ruin your labour in ministry.
Are you paying proper attention to your marriage? Do the needful.
