Sometimes ago, a brother told me he had over 100 movies on his laptop. He was addicted to movies.
His addiction gave me concern. If he told me he had over 100 messages or Christians literatures, my reaction would be different because I know those things would edify and make him better.
I have several messages I'm yet to listen to on my laptop and phone but he has more movies than what can build his spirit man.
I also discovered that while some of us care about reaching out to souls, crusades, prayer&the word, some Christians just don't care. They don't mind If sinners go to hell.
In the opening text, Paul the apostle spoke about some persons who care about themselves but do not care about what matters to Christ.
What we care about will shape our decisions and priorities including our spending. I was surprised to read that American Christians spend millions of dollars on halloween costumes yet there are nations without a single missionary.
What do you think would have happened If those millions are pumped into evangelizing unreached places, translation of bibles into new languages, printing Gospel tracts, supporting missionaries and planting new churches in places without one?
Sometimes, people don't support missions and evangelism because it is not their priority not because they don't have. Poverty and lack is not the problem of some believers, rather they have a problem of priority.
If you point them to kingdom needs for years, things that satisfy Christ and His kingdom, they'll attend to themselves first and give the leftovers that is if they give at all. We all need to align our thinking to the kingdom pattern.
When I was about graduating from school, I decided that whatever job or task that won't give me time for Christ won't be accepted. I just do not want anything to take my spiritual life from me not even money.
I discussed that with some people&they saw me as a fanatic but I don't care. Fanatism isn't bad If channeled to the right course. It takes holy fanatism to walk with God and please him. If we have football fanatics, why can't we have kingdom fanatics?
My priority is the kingdom and everything that pertains to Christ. That's why I am actively involved in world kingdom expansion, to make Christ known where he is not known. It takes a fanatic to do that and I wish I can do more of that throughout life.
God is expecting you to care about what he cares about. God's concern is for souls to come to the knowledge of his saving grace and to reign with him in heaven.
When all you do and what you do doesn't have anything to contribute to God's goal, then you don't care about things that matter to God. It is possible to be a preacher ¬ care about the goal of God.
It is possible to preach for self-gain not because one care about souls that Christ died for. Some preachers are more concerned about the honorarium than honouring the Lord. Let me ask you, what do you care about?
Caring about the things of God will not always mean you'll resign your job to be a full-time preacher. It is a function of the alignment of your heart, your priority&your involvement.
Do you really care about the things that matter to Christ?
Father, renew my zeal for what you care about In Jesus name. Amen.
