WHAT TO DO BEFORE "KAIROS" TIME . Pt.1

November 23, 2020 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

Matthew 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

In Greek, the concept of time is expressed using two words. There is 'Chronos' which speaks more about sequence or succession of time. That's where the word 'Chronology/Chronicles' comes from. Most times, we tell the time using a 'chronos'. We know 1 o' clock comes before 2 o'clock because there's a sequence. However, there's another word for time called "Kairos". It means the exactness of time or set time for an event or happening. It is specific and hardly does it change. The word "Kairos" was used about 86 times in the bible.

Now, there is a "Kairos" time for God's promises to manifest in your life. There is a "Kairos" time for the manifestation of the answers to your prayers. You can't guess successfully when the the promises of God will come to pass. You only need to wait for it. One of our challenges as believers is that we don't know how to wait for the "Kairos" time of God neither do we know what to do before the manifestation of the things God promised. We belong to a generation of those that want things done quick. The preacher that can promise instant and quick miracles tend to attract more crowd because we have what I call "fast food" mentality.

The writer of Hebrew(6:12) said, "That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises". Before "Kairos" time, you need faith and patience. God's word and promises must surely come to pass but in his own "Kairos" time and he'll do it in his own way. I'm one of those who always want God to do things in my way but I learnt my lessons. "God is not obliged to do what he has promised in our own way and at the time we set for him no matter how long we pray. He runs a program and he's a stickler for his agenda." To be free from anxiety during our waiting time, we must have this understanding.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to wait patiently for your "Kairos" time for the manifestation of all you've promised in Jesus name.
