Psalm120:2 Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. ESV

EXAGGERATION

Another vice Billy Graham and friends decided to shun was exaggeration. They vowed never to exaggerate the size of audiences or the number of people who came forward to confess Christ publicly. Ministers of the gospel have tendencies to exaggerate size of audience, souls won and miracles because of the spirit of competition that is in the air. It is very common to hear a preacher talk about how millions gave their lives to Christ yet such numbers cannot be confirmed or traced. In ministry circle, exaggeration is called "evangelistic speaking."

Dear minister of the gospel, the temptation to impress your audience or those that want to partner with your ministry will come. Stop exaggerating miracles and even if they happened, report miracles and healings in a way that glorify God not you. You're not the miracle worker. In as much as we encourage people to share testimonies, let the grace of God speak through your life and ministry. The measure of true and impactful ministry is not miracles and healings but a transformed life.

Stop brandishing unreal figures of church attendance, auditorium capacity and unconfirmed miracles to attract people and donors. Those things are not the true measure of an impactful ministry. Beware of doing ministry for media coverage without heaven's coverage. How possible is it for God to be using you to wrought great things without posting all on social media? Thank God for social media. I encourage its use but the underlining motivation should not be to announce your arrival to the world. John the baptist was announced to the nation of Israel by the divine hand of God yet his ministry headquarters was in the wilderness. Let God announce you. Stop begging for followership. Beware of faking miracles and a lifestyle that is not consistent with your level. If worldly celebrities are living a fake lifestyle on social media, you shouldn't be found doing the same thing. You don't need to fake it to make it.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to be truthful even if it doesn't impress anyone in Jesus name.
