Rom8:5- For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Many desire to be spiritual but they fail to pursue spiritual things, I have seen people that want to grow in the things of the spirit and be a useful vessel for God but they are still feeding the flesh.
There are two forces(flesh&Spirit) striving to gain control of your life, it is left for you to decide who you'll follow. When you read unhealthy books, listen to worldly music or you're given to movies that doesn't add to you spiritually, you're empowering the flesh.
Pursuit is the proof of desire, if you want to know more of God and be deep in the things of the Spirit, give yourself totally to that pursuit. It pays.
Do away with anything that fuels the flesh and acquire spiritual materials backed-up by a corresponding desire to be spiritual.
