ARE WE BOUND BY MOSAIC LAWS?Pt.4

October 25, 2013 · Lanre Oyeleke · 3 views

Matthew5:17-Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets; I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

HOW DID JESUS FULFIL THE LAW?

People that practice OT laws as a means of attaining righteousness hold on to the verse above as the basis for their doctrine. Paul made it clear in Gal3:10-11 that those who practice the law to attain righteousness are under a curse.

So why the contrast? Is Paul opposing Jesus? NO

Rom10:4- FOR CHRIST IS THE END OF THE LAW for righteousness to every one that believeth.

NLT version says:- For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given.

The scripture above means that Christ has fulfilled the law on our behalf that we should be made RIGHTEOUS BY FAITH NOT by works of the law. In the OT, the atonement lamb must be without blemish, the same way Christ being perfect made the ultimate atonement for our sins through his death on the cross, fulfilling the demands of the law. Halleluyah!!!

Jesus fulfilled the law on the Cross and even took the curse of we not being able to fulfil the law( because you can't fulfil it) upon Himself by being a curse for us. Gal3:13.

Learn to appreciate daily what Jesus did for you, what happened on the Cross is a heavy burden that YOU CAN'T BEAR, that is why hell awaits those that aren't Christ-like.

Action point

Father, thank you for sending Christ to pay the price of the law which I couldn't pay. Halleluyah!!!
