Heb7:8- Priests are given a tenth of what people earn. But all priests die, except Melchizedek, and the scriptures teach that he is alive.(CEV)
IS TITHING MOSAIC?
I love this scripture&, I'l be glad you read the whole chapter. Abraham, our father in the faith was the first to pay tithe not the mosaic generation, he paid it to Melchizedek(A TYPE OF CHRIST).Heb5:6, 6:20.
If Abraham paid tithe Melchizedek(A TYPE OF CHRIST), then we shouldn't be exempted. The OT people paid tithes to men that die(Levites) but in the NT we pay it to a priest that cannot die(Christ). Gal3:7 made it clear that Abraham is the father of those that have been justified(You and me) by faith.
Tithing was re-echoed by God in the levitical laws because it is His unchanging principle that He instituted before the law came and first practiced by father Abraham. We can't claim Abraham's blessings if we aren't doing his deeds(tithing included).
Isa51:2- Look to (Imitate) Abraham, your father,..(Emphasis mine).
Father, give me understanding on the subject matter In Jesus name.
