Matt6:16-Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
When Jesus was on earth, the Pharisees appear unto men to fast, they do that to earn some respect as religious leaders of that day but when Jesus came, he made it clear that such a fast doesn't have a reward because you create an awareness of it to men.
Many a times, we sometimes behave like the Pharisees, we either boast about our fasting prowess or we use it to intimidate others. Some brethren may even tell you how God spoke to them on a certain day during white or dry fast to intimidate others. If you're truly living a fasted life, you don't need to make noise about it because it will show.
Any time you fast to score points with men you loose points with God. I understand that sometimes, long fasting will disfigure your face and make you appear funny but it is advisable you do your long fast in a solitary place away from the glare of people.
Avoid Pharisaic fasting.
