Matt3:11-12 indeed baptize you with water unto repentance...he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire..Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
One of the symbols of the HolySpirit in the bible is fire, on the day of pentecost, the HolyGhost rested upon them like cloven tongues of fire. There are two type of fire and they are:
(A) Fire of purification
(B) Fire of affliction.
In the scripture above, the fire of the HolyGhost was mentioned with respect to purification that is the burning of chaff. In the bible, chaff represents impurity, something unwanted in one's life. When you're baptized with the fire of the HolyGhost, sin won't stay because his fire is for purification.
John said when Christ comes, he will baptize us with the HolyGhost and with fire talking about two different baptisms. There is a realm of 'enfirement', many of us talk about much about baptism of the HolyGhost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, but when it is coupled with fire, you become purified.
We call the HolyGhost the refiner's fire, if you have been struggling with the flesh in an unsual way, allow his fire to baptize and refine you.
