Matt6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
We live in a world where people seek many things, money, fame, houses, cars, degrees, etc. The more they seek, the more they keep seeking, when the quest to get mundane things are more than the things of the kingdom, you'll loose spiritual value.
It has become so bad in our world that people will intentionally work on sundays to receive extra pay and do voluntary over time for pay at the expense of church meetings, prayer&word study, such people still never get enough and their life is full of complaint. J.C. Penny was one of the richest men in his days, he said ' If a man is too busy to attend bible study&prayer meeting, then he is doing too much than what is required'(paraphrasing).
Throw yourself into kingdom service and seek God passionately. What you are working to earn in a year is what someone is receiving as a reward for seeking God and making kingdom service a priority because God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Jesus said 'all THESE THINGS'(cars, houses, wife, children,husband,degrees,etc) shall be added if you seek only one thing- THE KINGDOM.
