Luke11:8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need. NIV
Jesus was teaching about prayer in Luke 11. He told the story of a man who kept asking his friend for bread to feed his guest at an odd hour. Jesus said this man would grant his friend's request not because of friendship but because of his persistent request. NIV bible calls that act of persistence "shameless audacity". Jesus taught that persistence in the place of prayer is needed to get answers to our prayers. In a generation of instant answer and results, we must be ready to tarry in God's presence till result comes.
One of my sons knows how to pester me to buy him whatever he want. I remember telling him to pray about something he needed. Earlier, I told him we don't have the money to purchase that thing. After he prayed, he kept asking me to go and buy what he requested for in prayers. I told him God hadn't provided the money, he told me to go and buy it because he believed in his prayers. His audacity while requesting was shameless and all he cared about was what he wanted regardless of whether I can buy it or not. As far as he was concerned, I was in the best position to supply what he wanted.
Don't be tired in the place of prayer. In my few years of walking with God, I have waited for answer to certain things for years and I've seen those who waited on God for donkey years for just one thing. Delayed answer to prayer doesn't mean God has ignored you.
You may have been asking God for one thing over the years and it may seem God is ignoring your request. Don't stop praying, your shameless audacity in the place of prayer will get the job done. Keep asking, keep seeking and keep knocking on the door of heaven, very soon, you'll get a response.
Father, I receive the grace to be persistent in the place of prayer in Jesus name.
