CONSIDER THIS BEFORE MARRIAGE

Proverb 22:24 Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered,

Years back, an incident made the news. It was the story of a man who stabbed his banker wife to death. He professes to be a Christian. After the judge passed the verdict on him, I saw him speaking in tongues in chains while walking towards the prison vehicle. I watched this on t.v.This brother was her fellowship president when they were in school. Coroner's report showed that he stabbed his wife 72 times. He was angry to the point where he took the life of his wife. From the story, he had the habit of physically abusing his wife until the day he finally killed his wife. Another man( a Pastor) in the U.S. killed his wife as promised. Anger caused it.

The book of Proverbs is full of practical wisdom for daily living. The truth revealed today in the opening text is that we should never make friend with a hot-tempered person. If scriptures forbid friendship with such persons, it is obvious God won't support any of his children to marry such a person. Any brother or sister that cannot control his temper is not worth marrying. Don't consider him/her. I have heard of people who will destroy the t.v., home theatre and other valuable items at home when they're angry. Some may attempt to kill. From such persons, run away. Ability to control ones temper is a sign of maturity.

There are certain things that need no prayer of inquisition. Don't disturb God for direction on what he has clearly revealed in his word. Do you know what the scriptures call an angry man? Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools,Ecc7:9. A hot-tempered person is a fool. Now that you're still in courtship, you can assess his temper to be sure you won't be a victim of physical abuse in the future. If he has started slapping and punching you before marriage, you don't need a prophet to tell you to run for your dear life. To whom brain is given, sense is expected.

Father, I receive the grace and wisdom to choose wisely in Jesus name.
