1Chron4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that Thou wouldest bless me indeed and enlarge my borders, and that Thine hand might be with me and that Thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me!” And God granted him that which he requested.
PRAYER OF JABEZ
I know you are familiar with the story of Jabez. He was a child of sorrow. In fact, his name reflects the state of his life. Just as Jacob means a deceiver because of the circumstances surrounding his birth so was Jabez. Why should a mother or father programme the future of their child or children negatively because of the circumstances surrounding their birth? Similar things are happening today esp in the names given to children.
Most parents don't know that name is prophetic and it is a form of confession. So imagine a child bearing 'son of sorrow' in the class register in school, when the teacher is calling out names, he/she would say: Son of sorrow are you present? And the response would be: present sir/ ma. When something bad happens in class maybe someone misplaced his/ her money, the person bearing 'deceiver' becomes a prime suspect. Probably that was one of the reasons why Jacob wrestled with the angel until his name was changed.Gen32-22-32.
Jabez understood at a point in his life that he needed a divine turn around, he decided to pray and God turned his life around for good. No matter how bad your situation is, I have a God that can turn your life around totally only If you can pray. If there is a man to pray, there is a God to answer. Prayer failure can lead to destiny failure. The kind of prayer that brings turn around is not iced water prayer. Only Elijahic prayer does it. That is fervent and heart-felt prayer.
