WHAT DO YOU WANT TO HEAR ?

May 23, 2019 · Lanre Oyeleke · 2 views

2Tim4:3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

Sometimes ago, I was discussing with a senior Pastor in one of our denominational churches in Nigeria. He told me about some of their workers in church that were disciplined. Instead of waiting in church till their discipline time is up, they crossed to the other side of the road to join another church where sin is treated with kids gloves. These days, some believers prefer to attend meetings where they'll promise 'quick breakthrough' and 'Instant prophecies'. However, they would never sit to learn under seasoned teachers of God's word.

That is an end time syndrome that Apostle Paul spoke about. Sometimes, when I see people attending churches where abnormal things are done and taught, aside being hypnotized, I know that most of those people have a penchant for error and they decided to surround themselves with teachers that would say what their itching ears want to hear probably because they are seeing results not minding if the practice is in tandem with scriptures or not. The prophecy of the last days says clearly that men would not want to put up with sound doctrine and we're seeing it right before our very eyes.

Dearest, don't run from sound doctrine. A doctrine is a set of beliefs. As Christians, bible doctrine is pivotal to the success of our walk with God that was why Paul instructed Titus to teach what is in accord with sound doctrine, Tit2:1. Even Timothy was advised to watch his doctrine closely. Your faith in Christ can only be strong and well rooted in Christ If only you pay attention to sound doctrine. Christian doctrine is universal and it is not the same as church dogma. Do not neglect the deep teachings of the kingdom for the 'bless me' gospel.

Action point
