IS MASTURBATION MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE AS SINFUL?
This question is such that has generated controversy even among brethren. I was in a group where the issue of masturbation was discussed years back. A brother asserted that masturbation isn't a sin. Quite a number of people may also believe that masturbation isn't a sin because it wasn't mentioned in the bible. Truly, all sins are not mentioned explicitly in the bible including masturbation but all sins are categorized under: Lust of the eyes, Lust of the flesh and pride of life. Lust is the engine of all sins- masturbation inclusive. Reading the bible further, offenses against God are put under three major headings and they are: sin- this is simply missing the mark, transgression- breaking of laws, iniquity- perversion.
Encyclopedia Encarta defines perversion as:
(1) A sexual practice regarded as abnormal
(2) A change of something good, true or correct into something bad or wrong.
Masturbation is an abnormal sexual practice, it is not just a sin but an iniquity- a perversion. Every act of perversion glorifies the devil because it is a form of worship to the devil. In ancient Egypt, Atum, was the main deity of the Egyptian pantheon, who existed by himself. They believe that his ejaculation produced the first pair of twin gods, Shu (air god) and Tefnut (moisture goddess). Atum's semen was the origin of the world, and masturbation the act of creation. Egyptians worship Atum by masturbating along river Nile so that their semen will flow with the river. Every act of perversion is rooted in demon worship. That's why the narrative of Paul in Romans 1:23-31 linked idolatry with sexual perversion. Those involved may not know but that's exactly what they are doing as the scriptures says.
I have no way to pamper the truth about this subject matter. The truth about it may be unpopular but I take sides with scriptures. Masturbation is a sin that is capable of wrecking destinies and ultimately lead to hell. I want this truth to settle in your heart. No matter how bad your case is, you can overcome masturbation and be free. God is still in the business of delivering his children from addictions. An encounter with biblical truth on how to be free and the readiness on your part to apply yourself to it is the key to lasting freedom. In Christ, there's deliverance: If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed, John8:36.
Father, I receive the grace to overcome masturbation in Jesus name.
