MY EXPERIENCE
I masturbated four times. At the time I masturbated, I was already a preacher and teacher of the gospel. Though that was many years ago as a single brother. It was a very hard battle that I confronted because I felt bad and guilty after each episode of masturbation. The same happens to most children of God who are neck-deep into masturbation. Praise God! I won the battle over masturbation. In this series, I'll be sharing bible-based principles on how you can overcome masturbation and other addictions.
What is masturbation? According to WebMD, masturbation is the self-stimulation of the genitals to achieve sexual arousal and pleasure, usually to the point of orgasm (sexual climax). Many know the act but do not know the name. In one national study, 95% of males and 89% of females reported that they have masturbated. It is a common vice that has received the endorsement of some medical practitioners. Another study revealed that 90% of men masturbate while 40% of women are involved in the act. I don't know how true it is but my concern is about you becoming victorious over masturbation.
In the opening text, we were told about a people who are perverse, filled with fornication and were inventors of evil. Masturbation is a perversion of God's order for sexual fulfilment. While many folks still contend with the idea of whether masturbation is sinful or not, I want you to know that lust is the fuel for masturbation. What does the bible say about lust? For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world, 1 John 2:16. Masturbation is an evil invention that saps spiritual strength and vitality. For you to overcome, you must realize that it is not normal neither is it God's will for your life. As long as you're still in doubt about whether it is sinful/ not, victory will elude you. Confront and conquer.
Father, I receive the grace to overcome masturbation in Jesus name.
