2 Tim4:11 Only Luke is with me. Bring Mark with you when you come, for he will be helpful to me in my ministry(NLT).

SERVE

Sometime ago, I read a story on evangelist Mike Bamiloye's facebook wall. He wrote about one of his loyal associates in ministry who served whole heartedly. The man volunteered to drive the ministry bus in the early days of their ministry. This man also drove him personally when he hadn't learn to drive.

He spoke about how helpful he was to him back in the days. Age difference wasn't an issue between them, this man had a heart that was ready to serve and that was exactly what he did. He knew who God placed over him as his leader and he served with his heart.

An old timer in the faith once told us about his days as a youth. He washed clothes and engaged in house chores for his pastor. Those days, they didn't limit service to what they did inside the church, they helped out with domestic chores for their pastors as well.

That may sound strange to some of us in this woke generation but old timers in the faith can bear witness to this. That was the norm back in the days. May the Lord restore us to the ancient path.

In 2Kings3:11, read how Elisha was introduced to Jehoshaphat: "Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there no prophet of the LORD here, through whom we may inquire of the LORD?" An officer of the king of Israel answered, "Elisha son of Shaphat is here. HE USED TO POUR WATER ON THE HANDS OF ELIJAH."

I don't think some would consider the latter part of that verse a form of service today but that was what Elisha did to Elijah before double portion of power fell on him- he poured water on the hands of Elijah.

The man who hasn't served should never demand for double portion of power. In the figurative sense, you may need to start pouring water on the hands of your spiritual leader before asking for his kind of anointing. That's just my opinion anyway.

Pouring water on the hands of your spiritual leaders in context of our world today is simply being available to serve them personally with your skill, time and abilities.

There are those seeking to extort their spiritual leaders if given the opportunity to serve. Their belief is that working for him is an avenue of getting back their tithes and offering. Funny as it sounds, that's how some folks think.

I am not saying you should entangle yourself under the yoke of servitude as some preachers do to their followers. That's not what I'm saying so you don't take my admonition to the extreme.

In fact, a true servant of God may not tell you areas of his life where he need help but you must be sensitive to know where your skill, time and abilities are relevant in his life.

Find an aspect of his life and ministry where you can be of help and commit yourself to the task. There's a generation that desires the double portion of anointing upon the fathers. They have fasted and prayed but no result yet.

This is the time for Elishas to start pouring water on the hands on Elijahs. You have a duty to serve your spiritual leaders. That's the way up.
