Mark6:4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.
Recently, I visited a preacher whom the Lord is using mightily. He expressed his displeasure about the truancy of his members in church. Outsiders who recognized the grace of God upon his life were receiving miracles and had testimonies more than his members.
The experience is thesame with most preachers. I find it hard achieving result with my immediate church members, families and very close associates.
I have tried to unravel the mystery behind this. When I read about Jesus' struggle to perform miracles in his home town, I knew what the problem was- familiarity. When people know too much about you, they tend to look down on the grace of God upon your life.
In Jesus' hometown, they knew his father's occupation, his brothers and those associated with him. When he came on the scene, they asked derogatorily, 'isn't that the carpenter's son'? Till date, most Jews don't believe Him.
If you want to be blessed through your pastor or someone whom God has placed over you, deal with familiarity. Don't be too familiar with your Pastor so that you can receive from God through him.
Some preachers also have problems receiving miracles when their colleague is ministering. So bad! While others are shouting "amen", they'll seat in their revered position and look on.
The worst set of people are those that live with pastors. People may be falling under anointing and getting miracles easily but they lose out because of familiarity.
Access to a man of God should not be abused. The anointing you don't respect, you can't attract.
Father, I receive grace not to look down on your servants In Jesus name.
