Revelation 3:1 These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead (NIV).
Do you like the book of revelations? I observed keenly that most preachers and teachers in the hyper grace movement rarely or do not teach from the book of revelation probably because it doesn't suit their theology.
They may find it hard to accept the bitter truth that Christ can rebuke harshly as seen in chapters 2&3 of the book because they preach a Christ that pamper people. Christ still gives people their score card.
I once read a man’s comment who opined that Jesus is too loving to give harsh rebuke but I wonder If it is the same Jesus that spoke to the churches in revelation he was referring to.
Reading through the words of Jesus to the seven churches in Revelation 2&3, I am reminded of the fact that Jesus would some day give us our score card. He was so detailed about His observations and he gave very accurate description of what happened in those churches.
It should be noted that these seven churches truly existed in history as new testament churches that Christ rebuked. They are not fictional or a product of John's imagination. Those churches had pastors over them whom Christ referred to as ‘angel of the church’.
Dearest, if Christ decides to write His comment about us, what will he say? I hope He won’t say we are spiritually dull, weak, non-committed, sin-loving, ‘fireless’, entertainment-loving and cold as a church?
I am sure Jesus would not miss the point because He sees clearly. As we journey here on earth, we should live our lives circumspectly knowing fully that some day, we shall meet with our master who will give us our score card.
Father, I receive grace not to fail you In Jesus name.
