START THE YEAR ON THE RIGHT FOOT Pt.19
Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails
FIND GOD'S PURPOSE FOR YOUR LIFE.
When I was on campus as an undergraduate, one of the messages that struck me and kept me on my knees were the messages and teachings on purpose. The books( Plans, Purpose& Pursuit; Following God's Plan For Your Life; I Believe in Vision) of Kenneth E. Hagin of blessed memory on how he spent the first few years of ministry out of God's will challenged me to pray more to know God's mind for my life. Dr Myles' books on the subject of purpose taught me that the greatest pursuit in life is the pursuit of one's purpose. I am not in ministry by accident, I could have done other things that many deemed lucrative but those things aren't in the plan of God for my life. I remember a cousin who told me where my mates were, he was trying to dissuade me from pursuing the call of God. In his zeal to get me to see his point, he said "If you become a preacher, you'll be popular. We'll see you on t.v. but you won't have money". That didn't bother me because money isn't my pursuit, I just want to fulfill why I came to the world. I learnt early that God won't reward us for doing just anything but for what He has sent and ordained us to do.
Dearest, life makes no meaning if you're out of God's original plan and purpose for your life. God had an intention of sending you to the world. He didn't send you here to make up the numbers. You came like an arrow shot to hit a target. God was intentional about sending you here. He determined your family, country, state and local government. All these didn't happen by accident. It is on purpose. Unfortunately, many don't realize this, they wished they were born in a different country and into a different family. Many have come and gone yet they didn't fulfill why they came. Everything you need in life is tied to you finding God's purpose for your life. The day you discover your purpose in life is the day you start living. Living according to God's plan and purpose makes your life different, unique and uncommon. Your life becomes unfamiliar but relevant.
Dr Myles Munroe of blessed memory said, "when the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable ". Imagine using a shovel to eat or using a spoon to pack sand. That's an abuse of purpose. The shovel isn't meant for eating but for packing sand while the spoon isn't meant for packing sand but for eating. When used for anything different from the purposes they were made for, you're abusing those items. That's exactly how the lives of some persons are, they're living an abusive life. This year, make up your mind to press deep into the mind of God to know why He sent you to this world. You cannot design your life's purpose by yourself because you didn't create yourself. God's purpose for your life is bigger than you. God's purpose for your life existed in His mind long before you came on the scene, you only need to discover it by the help of the Spirit. Ask Him, He will reveal it to you.
Father, I thank you because I'm sent to this world for a purpose. Holy Spirit, reveal the mind of the father to me on why I'm here and enable me to fulfill it in Jesus name.
