START THE YEAR ON THE RIGHT FOOT Pt.15

Ecclesiastes 7:11-12. Wisdom is as good as an inheritance. Yes, it is more excellent for those who see the sun. For wisdom is a defense, even as money is a defense; but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.

ACQUIRE FINANCIAL EDUCATION( A)

I've been privileged to relate with church folks and ministers of the Gospel on money matters over the years, not as an expert on financial matters but as a Christian counselor who is expected to give godly counsel on issues. For me, it has helped me personally because I've learnt from several experiences and I've grown too. One major challenge I see as regards finance is the lack of financial education on the part of so many believers. Some know so much about many things that are spiritual but know so little about money yet they never stop praying and asking God for breakthrough. The wisdom they lack could have been gotten through simple financial education. In Luke 16:8, Jesus said, "...for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light". ASV

Why are the children of this world wiser in certain things than the children of light? It is simply because the children of light have refused to acquire the knowledge that'll translate into wisdom in crucial areas of their lives. I define financial education as learning about the three M's of money which are: Making money legally, Managing money& Multiplying money legally. Any one who knows how to do these three things is deemed to be financially educated and intelligent. All you'll ever learn about money is summed up in these three M's. No matter how spiritual you are, if you don't know about these three M's, you'll be praying always for an utopian breakthrough. Most believers pray for money as though it will fall from heaven whereas God doesn't produce money up there. What God gives is money making ideas and He expects us to manage it as stewards and multiply it through profitable ventures so that we can use it to expand His kingdom.

This year, you cannot afford to be ignorant about the subject of money like you did in previous years. Don't pretend as if this subject is not important in your life as some do. When I saw a lot of Christians engage in money doubling scheme years back especially MMM, then it occurred to me that so many believers do not know the difference between investment and money doubling which is no investment at all. A number of persons lost their monies due to ignorance and greed. Till date, I'm still learning about the subject of money from men of integrity with proven track record. To think all prosperous persons are cheats and fraudsters shows you're deficient in knowledge on financial matters. The era of ignorance is over. Admit you don't know about money as you should and get some education on the subject.
