Eph 5:18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, NLT
In the 70s, Ademu Idama was a key figure in the revival that took place in Ilorin, a city in North Central Nigeria. He had an invitation to preach in a student gathering about the Holy Spirit. Up until that time, he hadn't experienced the baptism of the Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. After his message, a misty cloud descended on the classroom where they were having fellowship. One student began to pray, and began to speak in tongues, others joined. Some clapped their hands, some cried while others confessed their sin. He was surprised at the holy "commotion" because he hadn't seen anything like it before. It continued until midnight. More so, he hadn't experienced 'pentecost' but he was a good preacher and Christian. The news about what happened spread throughout Ilorin township.
The following day, when he returned home from work, he peeled some yam tubers and put them on stove to boil. He went to his bedroom to pray. As he knelt down, the Holy Spirit fell on him and he burst out speaking in tongues for hours. The burning pot of yam was what attracted his neighbours who notified him about it. He prayed for several hours in tongues with his hands raised to the sky. He was so overwhelmed that he prayed in tongues for seven consecutive days both at home and in the office. Hallelujah!!! The Holy Spirit doesn't know human order. The moment He comes into a place, He establishes His own type of "order" that may seem disorderly to us. We often lock Him out of our lives because we want "orderliness". We don't want to be seen as weird.
All over the world, the Spirit of God is moving seeking whom to fill afresh. God is still in the business of baptizing His people with the Holy Spirit and power. Don't put Him in a box. If you're hungry and thirsty for Him, He'll fill you. John recorded what Jesus said in John 7:37-38, "On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them”. The river of the Spirit is flowing now. Don't allow unsubstantiated theological arguments prevent you from plunging into the flow, don't be tuned off by the " disorderliness" you've seen at the manifestation of His coming. He comes in ways and manners that seems best to him. He could be gentle and soft in His manifestation and at other times, He comes with a roar. The early apostles were called names after He came upon them but the experience paid off. That enduement of power from on high made the difference in their walk with the Lord. We wouldn't have had Acts of the Apostles without that encounter. God want to use you to continue the exploits we read in Acts of Apostles but not without His Spirit. The river is flowing already, don't stay by the riverside to watch how others are getting soaked and wet, plunge into it.
Form a habit of praying in tongues for at least 30 minutes on daily basis. It will pay off.
