Recently, I told my wife that I am tired of listening to news and other programs where they discuss the state of the nation. All we see and hear on television is not encouraging. Kidnap and other woes are the major themes. One can easily predict the content. The worst aspect of the news we hear these days is the part where they give economic forecast. They may say things like, "XXX number of persons will be poor in 2030 and famine will ravage some part of the nation". They prophesy evil. It is impossible to listen to these kind of news constantly and not have one's faith punctured. My first son heard me discussing with my wife about the myriads of bad news on t.v.and why I won't bother listening any longer. The young boy said I should be watching cartoon. That's hilarious. No bad news in cartoon.
We live in a world where the devil want to puncture our faith by making us dwell on the bad things happening around the world. In the book of Numbers 13, twelve spies were sent to spy the land. Ten saw the giants, their focus was on the obstacles surrounding their conquest. Just as it is today, some persons have concluded in their hearts that nothing good can happen to them because of the present state of the economy. In their minds, they've closed the door against miracles. Blessed be God, Caleb and Joshua saw differently. The bible says, "Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it”(Num13:30).
Don't listen to the seminar of fear being peddled around. There are 101 reasons the devil will give you for not putting your trust in God. The miraculous acts of God are not economy dependent. If it were, Elijah and the widow of Zarephath wouldn't have experienced supernatural supplies during famine. God wrought great miracles during hard times. I'm a living witness. During the lockdown, it was surprising to see people who embarked on building projects. While some were down and depressed because of what to eat and drink, others were buying cars, building houses and living as though nothing was happening. Don't make your faith a victim of the current circumstances. Tell the devil you will live above the earthly realities of the times because your reality is what God's word says not what economic experts say.
CONFESSION: My reality is what God's word say about my life. I refuse to dwell on negative news. I live and walk in kingdom possibilities.
