Luke6: 40-A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher.
Sometime ago, I and my younger brother gave a piece of native clothing material to a tailor. The first day we wore it for an occasion, the trousers tore under and we had to return it for mending. Later, my dad told me the guy ran away from apprenticeship because he felt he was good enough to stand on his own. He had an incomplete training.
For you to deliver maximum result in life and in any field or career that you've chosen, you need to be perfectly trained. Even in ministry, you cannot out grow training because you must be in tune with the current trends of things in the world around you. Even if you are a first class graduate of Harvard and you ignore trainings, you will soon be an outdated first class material.
Excellence is not negotiable for a child of God, it is only in the kingdom you'll see mediocres on the pulpit trying to lead intellectuals. In this present age, you need adequate training to function at the highest height of your calling. Worldy people update themselves to be relevant for the devil, you should not be exempted from learning new things.
Someone said that you must update what you know every 18month. As a preacher, teacher, chorister, usher, banker, doctor,etc, go for more trainings.
