John17:21- I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.
A woman once told me about a pastor in one of our popular churches here in Nigeria who wouldn't give a job to anyone that doesn't belong to his denomination. I almost fell victim of that 'you must attend my church to get a job syndrome' after my service year. A friend told me we both must attend a particular church whose senior pastor is a bank M.D.
At the root of such is an underlying fact that we aren't united. If you won't help me because I don't attend your church, then you are part of the division we are experiencing in the body of Christ. We are yet to see the greatest revival, the revivals and awakenings of old came because people forgot denominational affiliation and worshipped under the same umbrella.
Jesus prayed that we may become one and that we should be. We have allowed the devil to divide and rule amidst us because of our dogma's. You should see your blood-washed brother&sister in Christ as your closest ally. Denominations should be like coaching centres where we'll learn to become like Christ and not a place where we'll learn to fight one another.
I pray this morning that all the churches of Christ worldwide will unite to become one to advance God's kingdom for end-time harvest In Jesus Name.
