Psalm119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path
YOU NEED LIGHT- GO FOR IT DAILY
In your walk with God this year and beyond, you need the word of God. The Psalmist didn't mince word when he called the word of God lamp and light.
The work of a lamp is to brighten dark places. When there's darkness, the entrance of light dispels it immediately. That's just how the word works in our lives.
You need the word of God in quality and quantity. You must make it a daily habit to study God's word so that you can draw benefits from it. A christian that is not loaded with God's word will be weak and worthless.
The food your spirit man eats is the word of God. What food is to your body is what the word of God is to your spirit. The tool for training your spirit man to be strong and sensitive is the word of God.
Another area of concern for me is getting accurate knowledge of the word. Aside personal study of the word, you need to position yourself in a church where God's word is taught accurately.
Any church that places premium on teaching sound doctrine will help your spiritual growth. The days of jamboree christianity is over. We are in the end of times and only those that are solidly rooted in the truth shall stand.
Every generation experiences a battle between right and wrong, lies and truth. Social media has amplified many errors. The gullible have accepted lies as truth. This year it not be any better in that regard because we'll have to contend with heretics till we see Christ. Emulate the Berean believers.
Acts17:11 says, "And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth".
It must be your personal goal this year to increase in the knowledge of God's word. The starting point is a daily commitment to personal study of God's word.
Ask the Holy Spirit to explain what you don't understand from the word. Let your root grow deep in God's word so that you won't to be tossed around this year by every wind of doctrine.
