HOW TO LIVE A MEANINGFUL LIFE

John 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

The issue of finding purpose for living seems to me to be one of the most important discoveries to be made after salvation. Everything we are seeking for in life is tied to our purpose. I preached in a singles meeting recently and I told them that purpose discovery precedes spouse discovery. Knowing God's purpose for your life will aid the discovery of your spouse. You know most singles love to hear about how to choose a life partner which is good. We love to learn how to make money and live a good life, that's also good. However, it is purpose that gives meaning and value to marriage, wealth and life. When Jesus stood trial before Pontius Pilate, he declared to him why he came into the world- to bear witness unto the truth. His life was meaningful when he was on earth because he did all we read about him on purpose. After his death and resurrection, the impact of his purpose on earth when he came is what we are still enjoying till date. Walking in God's plan and purpose for your life has benefit for now and for posterity.

When Paul described David's sojourn on earth, he said, "Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed", Acts 13:36 NIV. The life of David was meaningful because he lived it on purpose. He played his part, fulfilled his divine assignment and died. That's a good report. No man should die until he has fulfilled why he came. We rarely can preach a balanced doctrinal message without quoting Paul. This kingdom enigma is still preaching on our pulpits simply because he discovered purpose. Towards the end of his life when he had finished his assignment, he said "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing",2Tim4:7-8.

Purpose is what gives meaning to life. Just like any product in the market, it is the manufacturer that defines the purpose of the product. You wouldn't know the purpose of a product except it is defined by the manufacturer. God is our maker. He holds the blue print for our lives. Purpose cannot be sought for with human method, it can only be revealed by God. You need to ask him: "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know",Jer33:3. Degrees are good but it only brings fulfillment when it aligns with God's purpose for your life. Why many people are not fulfilled in their endeavour and pursuit is because they're on the wrong path. It is impossible to be on track and not enjoy what you're doing. Walking outside God's plan and purpose keeps you in the proverbial rat race. "You start living the day you discover your life's purpose and start pursuing it.*
