Act 1:22- Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
After the resurrection of Jesus, Peter through the scriptures discovered Judas Iscariot's position must be filled by another person.
The amazing thing is the criterion used in the selection of the twelfth apostle. They said that the new apostle must have been a follower from the time John the baptist was announcing the coming of Jesus, to Jesus' ministry years down to HIS death and resurrection.
At the end of the day, Matthias was named as the 12th Apostle. From this short passage, we realise that Matthias was a faithful man. He had heard of the coming of Jesus, long before some of the apostles themselves ever did yet he never boasted.
Despite the fact that he was just a member, not holding any position, still he stayed with Jesus. He never struggled for position or power, he was satisfied with just following Jesus. He understood what being a follower was about; staying with Jesus.
Matthias moved from the crowd level to the apostle's level in one day! You won't be found missing when the time for your promotion comes IJN! To enjoy easy promotion, it is always good to wait for divine timing. If Mathias had been promoted too early, probably he would have been the one to betray Jesus.
Don't quit that job yet; don't leave the ministry due to a lack of promotion. Wait! The Lord will come sure for you at the perfect time. WAIT!
I receive staying power in Jesus' name.
