Job had every reason to pick offense and plan a revenge for his friends who added to his hurts during his ordeal. His friends were harsh with words and wrong in their judgement. At a point, when Job became weary of their unkind words, he told them, “You are miserable comforters, all of you!” (Job 16:2).
What struck me about the person of Job was his willingness to forgive them and let go of their stupidity. The bible says "Job prayed for his friends". Meaning, he forgave them. Praying for those who hurt you is a sign that you have forgiven them. In fact, If you want to forgive people, pray for them.
One trap we must not fall into when we are hurting is the trap of unforgiveness and pre planned revenge when our season of pains and hurts are over. Some person are waiting for the day their breakthrough will come so that those who spoke harshly against them will be smitten by the sword of revenge.
Some are even waiting for the day their detractors or mockers during their low moments will come begging for food during or money. Then, they'll remind the person how hurtful he/ she was. Wake up! That happens mostly in films not in real life. God has good plans for everyone and he is not interested in such.
If that's your mindset while you're still hurting, you may never come out of that season. That painful season of your life is to refine and make you better not bitter. Intentionally, I want you to pray for those whose words and actions affected you in times of pains. Mention their names to God in prayer telling them you have forgiven them and ask God to bless them.
This might be hard to do but the moment you do it, two things are bound to happen; at first, you'll be breaking the hold of unforgiveness in your life. Second you'll be restored fully and twice or more better than you were before entering that season of hurts and pains. This is God's will for you.
