ROOTEDNESS SHOULD BE THE GOAL

Colossians 2:7  Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

I observed several trees and plants, I discovered their strength is in their rootedness not their heights.
All you need to do to uproot some plants is to pull them up but when it is deeply rooted, you'll need some digging and cutting tools to remove it from the earth totally. That takes some time.

Apostle Paul probably observed the same thing when he enjoined the Colossian believers to grow their roots into Christ and build their lives on him. Superficial Christianity is no christianity.

The goal of every believer should be rootedness in Christ not height. One may have height and still be lacking in depth. God is not so interested in heights as he is in depth.

A rooted believer will not be falling and rising. A rooted believer will not be swayed by the vicissitudes of life. The anchor of a rooted believer will hold in the storms of life because he has depth in Christ.

When Satan comes to do his dirty job, only men with depth in God will stand. That day will come when you'll be tested. The writer of Proverb says, "If you falter in a time of trouble, how small is your strength!" (Proverbs 24:10 NIV).

As you abide in Christ through his word and make it your guiding principles, you grow roots in him. As you seek to be more intimate with him in fellowship, your roots grow stronger.

Colossian 3:16 says, "Let the [spoken] word of Christ have its home within you [dwelling in your heart and mind—permeating every aspect of your being] as you teach [spiritual things] and admonish and train one another with all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God"( AMP).
