Romans12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord
DEDICATION TO KINGDOM SERVICE
There's a brother I love so much. He is very committed and dedicated to the work of the Lord. Anytime I interact with his leaders in church, they always have good commendations about him because he is someone they can count on. In the ministry of apostle Paul, he commended some brothers for their dedication to kingdom service. He called them co-workers: "Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you his greetings. So do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my co-workers", Philemon 1:23-24 NLT. Apostle Paul wouldn't have called them his co-workers if they were not dedicated to kingdom service. Your skill, training and gifts are tools given by God for kingdom service: “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 3 and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— 4 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, ...Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you:", Ex31:2-6.
Every pastor is looking for someone that is committed to his vision not an opposition. Every pastor is praying for people who will serve wholeheartedly, not for price or reward. There are people who give half hearted service. They're only motivated by a pay cheque. Some want to be seen and do not want to do the seemingly small tasks in the church. They want to share the pulpit in the church with pastor because they feel they can preach probably because they were fellowship president or executive on campus. If such persons are assigned to take Sunday school or do other things, they deem it downgrading. Some hop in and out of church, they only serve in their unit whenever they feel like. If all these describes you, I want to tell you that your pastor is not happy with you. Every set man is praying for people he can entrust with tasks while he gives attention to other things. The worst I've seen is when brethren warm the benches in church not doing a thing or lift their finger in contribution to the progress of the church. Sometimes, I ask if it is possible to be genuinely saved and not want to do anything in God's house? David, in all his royalty, he said, "Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked",Psalms84:10. He was so in love with God and His house to the extent that he doesn't mind serving as an usher. Imagine the king/ governor of your state serving as an usher in your church.
You cannot out grow kingdom service regardless of your degree or societal status. Bear in mind that you're not serving the pastor but God under the leadership of that pastor. No kingdom labour will go unrewarded: "For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do", Hebrew6:10. Volunteer for productive kingdom service and be the answer to the prayer of that set man that is labouring to fulfill God's vision.
Father, I receive the grace to serve faithfully and wholeheartedly in Jesus name
