Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, ESV
Some persons have asked to know who tempted Satan in heaven before God cast him down to the earth. They wanted to know if there was another Satan that tempted Satan. Well, there was no other Satan that tempted the Satan that God cast down from heaven. Lucifer made a choice to rebel against God. Speaking about Lucifer in Ezekiel 28:15, we were told that iniquity was found in him. No one put it there, it was all his decision: "You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you". He exercised his will power by deciding what he wanted to do.
One of the greatest power God gave mankind is the ability to choose. Man is a free moral agent not a robot that needs to be teleguided. From the old testament, we saw Joshua telling the people to choose whom they will serve: "And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord", Joshua24:15. From time immemorial, no external force is strong enough to make man do what he doesn't want to do. Every action has always been a product of man's choice. Adam and Eve fell because they ate the forbidden fruit willingly. The serpent didn't force it on them. Though they were tempted, but the choice to yield to temptation was all theirs. The devil will always suggest evil things to us but it is our decision to accept his suggestions or not.
In Romans 6:13, Paul confirmed this by imploring us not to yield our members to temptation: "Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God". I want you to note the word "yield". To yield is our choice not the devil's. If you're tempted to fornicate and you are told the person you want to fornicate with has COVID-19/ HIV, I'm very sure the desire will die immediately. It shows you have control over your actions. God want us to take responsibility for our actions and not to always put the blame on the devil.
Father, I receive the grace to act right at all times in Jesus name.
