Romans12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. NLT

HEAVEN HELP THOSE WHO HELP THEMSELF

I have heard on several occasions where people said, " heaven help those who help themself". They often allude this statement to scriptures. Ever since I've been studying my bible, I haven't found this statement in the bible. Not even a semblance of it. Often, the context in which most people make this statement is at the point where compromise seems to be the immediate answer to a lingering problem.

For example, a student who has failed examination severally and has not compromised his faith by engaging in malpractice or a female student that failed by refusing to yield to the sexual advances of her lecturer may be advised by friends to compromise. The statement that comes with such evil counsel may be, "Heaven help those who help themself". They're trying to use 'heaven'( the throne of God) to support compromise. This is one of the unbiblical stereotypes that has bedevilled our world and some believers have fallen for it.
Heaven's help is for those who cannot help themselves.

The voice of compromise comes to us in the form of 'wise' counsel but heeding to such will lead to eternal doom. The same voice of deception was heard in the garden of Eden and Eve fell for it. That voice is reverberating in the hearts and ears of many today all over the world. The way out is to stick to the revealed truth in the word of God stubbornly even if it means death. The three Hebrews were compelled to bow to the golden statue but were resolute not to bow even if God chooses not to rescue them. They didn't help themselves out by bowing to the statue. The golden statue is always before us waiting for us to bow in compromise. Compromise will come wearing the garb of "heaven help those who help themself " or "It doesn't matter, everyone is doing it". You need to come to that point in your walk where nothing but the truth in God's word is what you'll stick to.

Action point

Father, I receive the grace to overcome unbiblical stereotypes. I refuse to compromise and I receive grace to stand in Jesus name.
