The rise of juvenile deliquency and crime is on the increase. I am privileged to work with children and teenagers. They are never far from me. I have assessed children with several behaviours and attitudes. I concluded that parenting plays a major role in the character formation of a child.
Proper parenting is very crucial If our families will fulfil the intended purpose for which God establish the family. In the opening text, the bible makes it clear that God want godly seeds from the family.
The family should be the primary place where our children will be taught godly values and christian living not the school. A number of parents abdicate their responsibilities and push it over to the school.
Father Abraham's family was a good example and God boasted about how he was raising his family by teaching the ways of God (Gen18:19). I have seen parent who pushed their training responsibilities to a nanny, school teacher or sunday school teacher.
They blame the teachers of their children for almost all their juvenile deliquencies forgetting that their children are the ambassadors of their family. That is why I advocate for intentional parenting.
Parenting by proxy is not normal. You have to be there for your children. Satan's edntime tactics is to get parents so busy with work at the detriment of their children. Sometimes, separated by far distance. When the children of Israel wanted to leave Egypt, Pharoah demanded their wives and children stay behind while the fathers go. That has always been the plan and still is.
You must use the bible as a the training manual for your kids. Let them know Christ right from inside your house. After that, you need to model godly character to them. Don't live a pretentious life. It is better to model godly character than to enforce it.
You must become the model of what you expect from your children because children learn primarily by imitation not by instruction alone.
The devil is working extra hours to ensure that children go wayward, the media is not helping either, be intentional about parenting.
