Psalm 118:5 In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free.
TO DEVELOP A STRONG PRAYER LIFE
In the year 2006, I experienced a major setback in my life while in the university. I almost lost my studentship on campus. I was asked to withdraw from the course I gained admission for.
I gained admission to study medicine and surgery but I was thrown out after my 100 level because of an unresolved issue with one of my courses. The Head of department promised to rectify a complaint I made but he didn't.
When I resumed the following session, I assumed everything was fine. I proceeded to check my name on the board and I saw "WTD". I asked to know what it meant, I was told 'Withdraw'. All effort made to prove I didn't fail the course and to make the H.O.D. who promised to rectify my score to fix the mess met with a brickwall. The man had left the school and was unwilling to come make good his promise.
I was in school for weeks without a bearing and totally confused. I was neither here nor there. One thing that resulted from the ordeal of that period in my life was a strong prayer life. I fasted for days and I lost count. Anytime I look back at those times, I thank God for what He did in my life.
The devil made me feel my prayers were wasted because I didn't get the desired result but I understood much later that God had a hand in what happened and it was God's way of realigning me for His purpose.
The wilderness season of your life should produce a strong prayer life in your walk with God. That thing you're going through should make you run to Him in prayers and not to run away from Him.
I once heard a father in the faith say that he prayed for 3 hours straight when he had a challenge in his life. Something he had not done before. His prayer life became red-hot.
I have noticed that mighty men in the school of prayer did not just get there in one day, certain challenges launched them into a deeper dimension of prayer.
Pastor E.A. Adeboye said the opposition against Him early in ministry when he became the General Overseer was what led him into 40 days fasting and prayer, something he had not done before. Now, 40 days fasting&prayer is a lifestyle and we can see the product of his prayer life every where.
Before you enter the promised land, God want to strengthen your prayer life because it is a tool for warfare. You cannot possess your promised land without engaging in warfare.
Father, I receive grace to cultivate a strong& steady prayer life In Jesus name.
