2 Tim 2:20-21 In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work. NLT
When I was growing up as a young lad under my parents, mum kept some dishes away from the kitchen plate rack. Some of the wedding gifts she received were kept properly. I noticed that whenever we had visitors especially ministers, those special dishes were used to serve them. One would wonder what made those plates different from others but obviously, they were special, rare and expensive. Apostle Paul described the same scenario in the opening text. Probably his mother was like mine.
There are those who by human qualification are expected to be making impact but God looked elsewhere. Have you ever wondered why some are used for special and unique feats? Maybe you've been praying for several years that God should use you for his glory. That's fine, but why have you remained at the same level? Have you ever asked why God bypassed some people to pick vessels people despised and thought would amount to nothing? Well, I may not be able to answer fully but I found an important key that can help us become that "special vessel" for special use. Paul said, "IF you keep yourself pure". I want you to note the conditional word "IF".
According to the text, becoming a special vessel for special purposes is predicated upon a life of purity. If you've desired to operate in certain special dimensions of the Spirit, maybe you've prayed and fasted about this and spent days on the mountain, it is time to do a purity check. God has a soft spot for pure vessels. This is a vital way to position yourself for special use in God's vineyard.
CONFESSION: Father, I receive the grace to live pure and to walk worthy of you so that I can be used for special purposes in Jesus name.
