2Chronicles7: 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
ELECTORAL PARTICIPATION (B)
There is a raging debate in Christian circle about the involvement of Christians in politics. Over the years, i've heard different opinion and I see it as an inconclusive debate. However, my stand is that if Christians that are called into public governance go en masse as majority, having a united agenda and ideology, they can make impact in the political sphere. It is my belief that some are called and ordained by God into public governance. If you're in that category, do not attempt starting a church. From scriptures, we see clearly that God acknowledged the rule of the righteous: "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."( Prov29:2).
Politics simply has to do with governance. That's the simple definition. In this part of the world, the word 'politics' is synonymous with being cunny. That's because the calibre of people in politics in our clime are cunny and sly. Politics itself is not bad, it only reveals the stuff you're made of. If we leave it to bad and wicked people, we'll be affected negatively by their evil decisions. In the bible, the people under God's covenant participated in public governance. Daniel was not just a prophet but he was a political leader who served under four different kings. Joseph was not a priest but an appointed political leader and Deborah led the nation. It won't be totally wrong to call Moses a political leader. He led a nation of about 3 million people for forty years.
There's a need for God's people to engage in public governance. Looking at the level of corruption in national leadership, going as one may not bring about needed change because politics is a game of numbers especially in law making. The righteous need to be represented in large numbers so that righteous laws can be made. If you sense God's call upon your life into public governance, start praying on how to go about it. Start relating with likeminds and cast a vision. Share your vision and build structures that will help you attain your political goals. Our nation will not experience true transformation until righteous people rule.
PRAYER Father, raise good leaders for us and help them to rule with your fear in Jesus name
