2Chronicles7: 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
SEEK HIS FACE
Seeking God's face is akin to seeking God for help and direction. In the old testament, in times of national crisis and anguish, the prophets and leaders sought God's face on how to handle national affairs. In 1Kings22, we saw how Jehoshaphat insisted that Ahab must seek God through a genuine prophet to know God's mind for the hour. In the old testament, it was common to see a king seek the face of God for help and on the next line of action.
In times of national sickness like insecurity and war, we saw how God intervened for Hezekiah the king of Judah when Sennacherib( king of Assyria) threatened the peace of his kingdom in Isaiah36. In the following chapter, it was recorded that Hezekiah sought God's face like a mourning man. God sent a word of comfort to him through Isaiah the prophet. In one night, an angel of the Lord killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers(Isaiah37). This did not happen by complaining about what is not right in the country. He received help from God because he sought his face.
In today's world, though we have many unbelieving leaders who do not know the true and living God, we have the priestly right to step in on behalf of the nation. We can secure help for our nation by turning our focus on God. He knows who to use to bring his desire to pass. We should never come to the point where we'll think we don't need God in our national affairs as some are insinuating. If the effort of human leadership is good enough to fix our nation, we won't be in this mess. This is the time kingdom people need to arise, seek the face of God on behalf of the nation and sectors where they hold influence. If you hold a position of influence in the nation or civil service, you can seek God's face on how to run your office. Lead like a priest.
Father, I receive the grace to seek your face for my nation in Jesus name.
