2Tim3:2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. NLT
I was in a meeting years back with some elders. That was during my service year. There was an introduction of participants. They were old and experienced people. Obviously, I was the youngest among them. I introduced myself and told them the office I was occupying as a Christian corper. After the introduction, one of the men spoke up. He was bitter about not knowing Christ early. He told us that when he was serving, he was still an unbeliever. I saw through his mind as he spoke and I could tell that he wished he could turn back the hands of time.
Apostle Paul said something about Timothy being taught the scriptures from childhood in the latter part of the opening text. That caught my attention. Timothy was caught and taught the scriptures early. His mother laid a legacy of faith for him. Paul said, "When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also."(2 Timothy 1:5 KJV). We can see a transference of the faith in that scripture. That is not to say that Timothy inherited salvation from his mother but what Paul was saying in essence was that he was shown the way of the Lord and taught very early. The Christian faith became a legacy in Timothy's family. In church history, Timothy became the Bishop of Ephesus in his youthful age because he was caught and taught early. He found his life's assignment because of his alignment with scriptures from a tender age.
As parents, we have a huge responsibility in that regard. We must find time to teach our kids the scriptures. We must be intentional about it. When they're young, it is very easy to mould their minds with the word of God. In most of our outreaches, children respond to the gospel more than adults. From my observation, if a child is taught the scriptures early, such a child becomes wise and finds his/her unique life's purpose on time. The devil is also catching and teaching them young. He's fighting a battle to win the next generation to himself because he has need of them for his hellish assignment. Your children and mine shouldn't be his candidate.
Father, my children will not be the candidate of the devil's program for his end time agenda. I receive the grace to catch and teach them young in Jesus name.
