I attended a workshop of pastors and missionaries where the subject of fundraising was the focus. The facilitator led the discussion and got some panelists to shed light on how to raise fund for the work of the ministry. The ideas were brilliant but they were things I knew already.
One of them shared a story about someone who promised to fund their ministry but failed to keep his promises despite assuring him repeatedly. At that point, all his brilliant ideas became futile. Then, someone arose and said, "I want you to know that fundraising for missions is spiritual warfare. The finances of the person who promised you might be under attack".
As he spoke those words, my eyes opened immediately. A scale fell off my spiritual eyes. I realized that some of those who pledged to support our ministry who haven't fulfilled their promises weren't lacking in integrity but their finances came under intense attack to prevent God's work from moving at the pace it should.
I want to let you know that Satan is not interested in your well being and comfort for any reason. Just as he attacks the health of God's people, he attacks our finances too so that we won't be able to fund the gospel adequately. In fact, the moment you set your heart to support missions, he launches an attack against your finances.
One of the ways you'll know your finance is under attack is when doors of financial breakthroughs closes on all fronts. This might be loss of job, low patronage in business or unreasonable debts due to losses. If you are doing well in business and this becomes your experience, enter into warfare mode.
Another sign of financial attack is when there is a problem that takes money from you constantly even before it comes. For instance, some sicknesses can take more from you than you are making. They devour your finances literally. Imagine living a drug dependent life and not just cheap drugs. I heard some drugs cost over a million naira. That's a devourer there.
If what I have written above describes your situation, I am glad to let you know that there is victory for you in Christ. No attack can survive the weapons we have in our arsenal. In Christ, we are victorious.
Colossians 2:14-15 says, "He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. [15] In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross".
