Psalms78:72 So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.
CHARACTER
Any time I study the bible, especially the life of Joseph and Samson, I'm forced to always compare these two bible characters. The divine mandate both of them had was earthshaking. Both of them had leadership entrusted to them divinely. While one received his mandate in a vision or dream, the angel of God declared the future of the latter before he was born. The future was declared but destiny was not assured until character was proven. In the course of time, one built strength of character and was able to reach the top and sustained it while the other made a mess of God's assignment for his life because of bad character. Both of them were faced with the same type of temptation, one succeeded while the other failed.
There's a popular saying that skill can take a man to the top but it takes character to sustain him there. In life, two C's are crucial in achieving greatness and sustaining it. The first is character. A man may be anointed like Samson, gifted like Bezaleel, powerful in speech like Winston Churchill, rugged like Paul and skillful like Diego Maradona, if he lacks strength of character, he'll make a mess of greatness. Ever wonder why some men fail when they get to the top? Character deficiency is it. What brought some men down when they got to the top journeyed with them to the top.
A man defined character as who you are when no one is watching. You need to pay attention to your character. In your quest for greatness, spot those things that shouldn't go with you to the top. What about anti marriage characters? Spot them now and trust the Holy Spirit to help you do away with them before they destroy your marriage. The writer of Hebrews says, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us",Hebrews 12:1 NLT. If you don't want to be a casualty of moral deficiency, start talking to God about those sins that easily beset you. As you fellowship with Him daily and surrender to His Lordship, you'll be refined. The future maybe declared divinely but landing safely in destiny and sustaining it is not assured until character is proven.
Father, I receive the grace to develop strength of character in Jesus name
