Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? KJV
In a bible study class on the book of Acts of Apostles, the lecturer asked us to know our views on why the manifestation of the supernatural isn't common as it was in the days of the apostles. Several views were shared but the view that stood out and ministered to me was about yielding to the Spirit. A careful study of those great supernatural manifestations in the book of Acts happened because the vessels God used yielded fully to the Spirit. They became a conduit for the power of God to flow because their lives were yielded fully to the Spirit.
Peter didn't go to the beautiful gate with the aim of making the lame beggar walk, he was just going for prayers like every other person and he encountered a lame beggar then the miracle happened, Acts 3. He may not be fasting on that very day as some may think but one thing was constant in his life- he was living a yielded life. He didn't intend to make his shadows heal the sick, it was the people that discovered his shadow carried the supernatural. I doubt if he ever prayed that God should anoint his shadows. It was all the prerogative of the Spirit not his. However, that was possible in His case because he yielded to the Spirit.
We are trying to turn the principle around by seeking to walk in the supernatural, demanding to operate in unique miraculous dimensions and manifesting power through several spiritual exercises without living a yielded life. That's why some have fasted and prayed for power for years but without result. The Holy Spirit is willing to manifest the power and glory of God through us more than we are willing. He's only looking for yielded vessels who will manifest the power of the world to come here on earth. To yield is to obey the promptings of the Spirit, even in little things that we think doesn't count. That's how to position oneself for the outflow of God's power and glory.
Father, I receive the grace to yield to God's Spirit in Jesus name.
